Karl's story
My story in tennis began at four years old on the courts of England. Like many who fall in love with the game, I was initially drawn to the competition, the challenge, and the pursuit of improvement. But over the years, I discovered that tennis was offering something far more meaningful than forehands, backhands, wins, or rankings.
I believe tennis is one of the greatest and healthiest platforms we have to teach, enhance, and lengthen life. If working in racquets was simply about strokes and technique, I would have chosen a different path long ago. What has kept me in this profession for decades is the people.
The greatest impact tennis has had on my life has come through the relationships it created — the mentors who shared their wisdom, the leaders who inspired me, the colleagues who became lifelong friends, and the countless players and families who entrusted me to be a small part of their journey. Tennis has given me opportunities I never could have imagined, but more importantly, it has taught me the value of service.
Throughout my career, I have worked as an Assistant Coach, Junior Academy Director, Director of Racquets, entrepreneur, mentor, and consultant. Along the way, I have helped build programs, develop staff, grow businesses, and create experiences that bring people together. Yet the common thread through every role has remained the same: people first.
There is no contribution more meaningful to me than serving others.
My purpose is to help guide those who have the privilege and responsibility of bringing joy to people's lives through racquet sports — whether it's a child learning resilience and confidence on a tennis court, an adult finding peace and connection during an hour away from life's demands, or a club leader working tirelessly to create an environment where all of that can happen. We are here to serve.
That belief is the foundation of REQ. My mission is to help racquets professionals, coaches, directors, and club leaders build cultures rooted in purpose — so they can maximize their impact on the lives they touch every day.
Because at its best, tennis is not about tennis at all. It's about people.
